Marion County's Run for the Springs grant has reimbursed residents of unincorporated Marion County up to $200 for a routine septic pump-out and inspection and up to $250 toward a septic repair permit. You must apply and get approval before the work is done. Funds are limited and first-come, first-served, so check current terms with the county first.
Few homeowners know about this program, and none of the septic companies we compared mention it. If you live outside the Ocala city limits and your tank is due, it is worth a few minutes to check. This guide is based on the county's published grant instructions, last updated October 16, 2023. Terms can change, so confirm with the county before you schedule. When you are approved, call us for Ocala septic tank service.
Based on the county's published instructions, the grant has offered two kinds of reimbursement for septic owners. Each is paid back to you after the work is done and you send proof.
| What it covers | Maximum reimbursement |
|---|---|
| Routine maintenance pump-out and inspection by a septic service professional | Up to $200 |
| Septic repair permit (the permit cost, not the repair) | Up to $250 |
A $200 reimbursement covers a large share of a typical pump-out. Our septic tank pumping cost guide lists current Ocala prices by tank size.
The published rules say the applicant must be an unincorporated Marion County resident or business. Homes inside a city's limits, such as the City of Ocala, may not qualify. Each location is eligible once every four years.

The order matters. Apply first, wait for approval, then book the pump-out. Booking first can make you ineligible.
Marion County is home to Silver Springs, one of the largest artesian springs in the world, plus Rainbow Springs and Silver Glen Springs. Failing septic systems can send nutrients into the aquifer that feeds them. Regular pumping is one of the cheapest ways to protect that water.
That is also why some newer systems in parts of the county must be nitrogen-reducing designs. Keeping your current system pumped and in good repair helps avoid a much more expensive replacement.
